Leave me out

In a quick response to a letter sent to him by Jeremie, Martineau asked the AG to give mature consideration to all the events taking place and do what “in our conscience is just and right and in the best interest of the country without acrimony or ill-will.”

Martineau said he had no quarrel with Jeremie’s criticism of him chairing the Law Association meeting on July 20.

He insisted that before chairing the meeting, he obtained the advice of a highly respected Queen’s Counsel and one highly respected Senior Counsel on the matter and they both agreed it was not improper for him to chair the meeting.

Notwithstanding that, Martineau said he put the question to the meeting at which a number of Senior Counsel was present, and most of them voted in favour of him chairing the meeting.

Martineau found that Jeremie’s letter had personalised the issues.
