‘President’s’ rivals to answer Hello Yankee

This American-bred three-year-old literally ate up the sloppy track yesterday morning, in recording a time of one minute and 03 seconds.

And should the John O’Brien-trained daark bay colt stay the 1900 metres distance, could well be the winner of the $75,000 purse on the CLICO-sponsored race day.

But this will be no one horse race since recent winner Lekh Raj who also holds the engagement clocked a good one minute 03.66 seconds for the same distance.

Also showing great form on the gallops yesterday morning was Tobago-bred Crown Point who just missed achieving the Triple Crown last year.

He was seen really enjoying his 800 metres gallop in company with CLICO Midsummer Classic hopefuls Godspell and Bold Mover.

This trio stopped the clock at a very good 48.94 seconds for the trip.

And Chief Commander, another from the O’Brien stable, went through his 800 metres gallop in a handy 51.38 seconds.

On the day, Tuesday, the two-year-olds will be making their debut, and Luca’s Gold and Indrani looked very good in their 600 metres run.

The Derick Mosca-trained pair engaged in the CLICO Independence Fireworks Trophy over 900 metres, stepped lively over the trip to clock a very good 36.49 seconds from the boxes.

Pre-race CLICO Midsummer Classic favourite Sara’s Music travelled fluently over 600 metres from the boxes together with stablemate Ragtorichestorags timed in a good 36.18 seconds.
