First Lady’s brother robbed... again

Ramjohn told Newsday that despite the three robberies which included him being shot in the right leg on January 11, 2005 (the first of the three incidents), he is not discouraged and will not close his retail and wholesale business on Todd Street. “It’s not going to stop me from continuing my business,” Ramjohn said.

According to police reports, at about 4.45 pm, five bandits — one armed with a sawed-off shotgun — entered W Ramjohn Grocery and Cafe.

A male employee told Newsday he was at the counter attending to three customers when the bandits entered. “One of them walked up with a gun, pulled a mask over his face and said ‘Nobody move.’ I just turned my back for a second and when I turned around I saw one of them (robbers) behind the counter,” the employee said.

The counter is completely burglar proofed, but the worker said the bandit must have squeezed through the burglar-proofing. Another one threw a bag on the ground and told the customers to “pass everything.” A customer was robbed of his licensed firearm.

The bandits took $1,000 from the cash register before escaping in a car. Within minutes, two uniformed policemen and detectives from the San Fernando CID arrived at the business place. Prior to the January 11, 2005 incident, Ramjohn was robbed at his Hill View Gardens home in 2004.
