Sudama: Winston, look at the bigger picture
Addressing the party’s Monday night public forum at Longdenville Presbyterian Primary School, Sudama said Dookeran, his friend and colleague, was perhaps “misled or possibly misadvised” on the leadership crisis.
Sudama told supporters, “Today I say to him...look again. Think again, rethink your relationship that you have with other members of the party. We can win, at the end of the day, if you can possibly resolve these difference so that we can work together as a team with a common goal and objective.”
Sudama said the larger picture was the “future of the country” and restoration of democracy which was being eroded by what he described as the most “vindictive, spiteful and corrupt PNM regime.”
But even though former Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday who spoke earlier had called for a ceasefire on the leadership squabbling, Sudama offered a few choice words on the political re-entry of former UNC Chaguanas MP Hulsie Bhaggan.
The former UNC MP who fell out bitterly with Panday, made a public appearance on a Dookeran platform two weeks ago. About Bhaggan, Sudama said, “the trouble with Hulsie, is that Hulsie likes Hulsie more than she like anybody else. So instead of promoting the party, she promoted herself.”
He added, “I mean if you go to the length of sitting on the highway in the hot sun on hot bar-bar-green, seeking a little publicity, I think that is liking yourself a little too much.” The UNC’s next public meeting will be held next week Monday at the East Indian Friendly Society Hall in Gasparillo.
