TT far from Tropical Storm Chris

This system began as an active tropical wave east of the Windward Islands and has put the islands of the Northern Leewards under a tropical storm warning.

Officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Services, Piarco told Newsday at 5 pm yesterday, that Tropical Storm Chris was centred near 18.0 north and 61.1 west or about 100km north-east of Antigua.

The storm was reportedly moving west-north-west at 17km per hour with maximum sustained winds near 95km per hour.

Tropical Storm Chris is expected to strengthen gradually and its forecast track was expected to take it over the Leeward Islands last night into this morning.
