Ex-soldier drowns at King’s Wharf

However, at about 3 pm, his body was found floating at the wharf. A report was made to the police and the body was removed to the San Fernando Mortuary. An autopsy carried out yesterday confirmed death by drowning.

The drowning is the second unnatural death to hit the family. Jaskaran’s son Ruben Paul, 42, was found murdered on December 28, 1992 near the Usine Ste Madeleine pond. Speaking to Newsday yesterday, Jaskaran’s son Wallace, 43, said the last time he saw his father alive was about 9 am on Tuesday.

“I was getting ready to head to work and my dad was getting out of his bed to have his breakfast. We did not talk much to each other,” he said.

Wallace said his father who was ailing for sometime, became very depressed after Ruben Paul’s murder. “Daddy’s entire life changed after Ruben was killed. He was never the same again,” Wallace said.
