Cops seize arms, ammo, jewelry

Members of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) arrested 14 persons in the maxi-taxi on Tuesday night and based on information they received, executed a search at a house in El Socorro on Wednesday where they seized over $100,000 worth in jewelry. The police have issued a call to members of the public to visit the San Fernando Police Station to help them identify the stolen jewelry.

Police officers said the arms seized on Tuesday consisted of a Glock 22 nine-millimetre pistol, a .38 revolver and a nine-millimetre pistol, together with 27 rounds of ammunition.

Among the jewelry seized from the house at Temple Street in El Socorro were 26 gold rings, 22 gold chains and assorted pendants, 17 pairs of gold bracelets, 16 gold ID bands and 22 pairs of gold earrings. A computer and two Motorolla wireless radios were also seized.

Yesterday, the jewelry and guns were displayed in the San Fernando Police Station by the lawmen who carried out the police exercise.

Sgt Anthony “Bruiser” Charles said persons whose jewelry were stolen recently, should visit the station to see if the seized items belong to them.

The 14 suspects arrested were yesterday placed on several identification parades and were interrogated for several hours by police.
