Teen’s kidnappers call for $.3M
The girl’s worried parents have not eaten or slept since she was kidnapped.
Yesterday, Delpino’s Supermarket at Maracas, St Joseph, which is owned by Alexander’s parents, was closed. The kidnapped student’s mother, Emily Delpino, was traumatised yesterday as she tried to come to terms with the kidnapping.
The 14-year-old student of Providence Girls’ Catholic School left her Meade Street home in Tunapuna on Wednesday afternoon to rent DVD movies from a nearby outlet.
When she failed to return home, frantic checks were made to locate the student to no avail.
At about 8 pm on Wednesday, Alexander’s mother got a telephone call from someone who indicated that Alexander had been kidnapped. The caller demanded a $300,000 ransom for the girl. Yva Alexander is the eighth person to be kidnapped for ransom for the year.
