TT cyclists gave good show at CAC Games

He said although they did not win a medal, he is convinced that the young cyclists is a team for the future.

The TT team comprised Christopher Sellier, Haseem McLean Marc Codrington and Colin Wilson.

Chapman said despite their lack of medals, the team made us proud as they stood up to the test, giving us hope for the future of cycling in Trinidad and Tobago.

Our more senior riders Emile Abraham who placed 5th in the points race with 19 points and placed 7th in the road race, together with Guy Costa, also gave excellent performances on the track and road.

But, however, they too were disappointed in the end results after very fine performances giving the opposition much to be worried about.

Chapman said Sellier, 20, showed class and courage in all his events to finish 5th in sprint and 7th in the kilo in spite of pains he suffered before the event with blisters.

Thanks to Dr Gopeesingh and physiotherapist Ian Sharpe, Sellier put on a superb performance to the delight of the crowd in photo finishes in the sprint event.

Marc Codrington, Haseem Mc Lean and Christopher showed great form in the Team Sprint Event and achieved a 7th place, whilst Colin Wilson and Guy Costa showed great promise and determination in the Points race and Road race events.

Coaches Cyril Pollonais and Clinton Grant did well to build confidence in the young riders, using their own past experiences to give encouragement to the team.

Roger Smart the team’s mechanic played a most vital role in ensuring that there was no technical set backs to the cyclists.

Chapmnan again congratulated the young riders who he said will in the very near future make TT proud..
