Autopsy today on ex-CJ driver’s body

Strachan was a former policeman and driver of former Chief Justice, Clinton Bernard.

The Diamond Vale man succumbed to injuries sustained under mysterious circumstances at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH).

Police believe Strachan may have fallen after attempting to climb a wall in an effort to contact a friend.

Strachan was found bruised and battered near a telephone booth. He had a wound to the head and facial lacerations. Police said Strachan had not been robbed, as his wallet was recovered. Strachan would have celebrated his 27th wedding anniversary with his wife, Jennifer, yesterday. He was a father of three.

According to police reports, a woman was walking home from work at Papia Village, Maraval, at 10 pm, when she saw a man trying to make a telephone call at a phone booth on Morne Coco Road.

The woman heard a noise and when she turned around saw the man lying on the ground. She then noticed that he was bleeding from a head wound. The woman alerted the E999 Rapid Response Unit.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations and the Maraval Police Station also responded to the call. Strachan was rushed to the PoSGH where he later died.
