Accused: Someone got my baby girl pregnant

The accused man, who was making an appearance before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls yesterday, told the magistrate his family had been suffering since his arrest. He claimed his absence from the home had resulted in the pregnancy of one of his daughters, who was not yet a teenager.

“This is really overbearing. I am not there and someone took advantage of her. My daughter’s fate is in your hands,” the accused man told the magistrate.

The father of four girls said he had been the sole breadwinner in the family and his incarceration has been extremely tough on his family.

He is one of 11 persons jointly charged with Maharaj’s murder.

Maharaj, 62, was kidnapped while liming at the Samaan Tree Bar in Aranjuez on April 6, 2005. His remains were found in two barrels at Grande Curacaye, Santa Cruz, on January 8, 2006.
