Jouvert in Arima

The celebrations tomorrow arejust one of the events that are part of a month of activities. Today the public are invited to a Health Fair at the car park opposite FCB from nine am where they will be offered blood pressure testing, diabetes testing and pap smear testing among others.

Tomorrow festivities will begin at 5.30 am with Jouvert through the streets of Arima, the competition’s judging point will be situated in front of First Citizens Bank on Hollis Avenue. Music for Jouvert celebrations will be provided exclusively by rhythm sections. Bands will be competing for two prizes “Best Rhythm Section” and “Most Creative Ole Mas Band.”

There will be a pan around the neck tribute to the Soca Warriors during the morning period as well.

At 3 pm several conventional and traditional steel bands will take to the streets along with traditional characters.

The Velodrome will come alive with the music of Production Sounds and several other guest DJs as Arima hosts its much anticipated “Fete 2K6” which will begin at 9 pm.
