CYRIL LEE IS 103 YEARS OLD

Before migrating with his wife of 66 years, Lennie, who died in 2002, Cyril worked for many years at Yuille’s Printery. Their only son, Gary and two grandsons live in Richmond Hill, Toronto. Cyril, who lives in a nursing home, is in good health except for failing eyesight, and says niece Jacqueline Telfer “has only to find a new reason to complain everyday as he says since everything is done for him, all he has to do is complain, for there is nothing else for him to do. He still wants to be able to shop and cook his meals.”

Just around his 100th birthday, Cyril stopped smoking a “pack a day” when a small hole was found in his new trousers and son, Gary, accused him of being careless with his cigarettes. Cyril declared that he never smoked, and has since stopped.

The former member of the Holy Trinity Cathedral Choir, still has a good singing voice, and entertains the mostly lady residents who also live in the sheltered accommodation.

The long-living Lees have all lived for four-score plus years, with the exception of one sister who died in her teens. Cyril’s younger brother Alvin, who also lived in Canada, died in December 2004, at age 100.
