Friends back in hospital after crash

After a fight and then hours later, a car accident, Rodney Ramsawak, 31, of Champs Fleurs, St Joseph and Tooleram Tirbanie, of Felicity, Chaguanas, were both admitted to a ward at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH).

The first incident occurred at about 5.30 pm when they were liming at a bar at SS Erin Road, Debe. According to police reports, at about 5.30 pm they got into a dispute with a group of men. Police said a scuffle ensued and escalated into a bottle fight at the bar. Ramsawak, police said, received a wound to his head and Tirbanie was knocked unconscious. Both sought medical attention at SFGH where they were treated then admitted to Ward three.

Police yesterday suspected the two men discharged themselves from the hospital since they were involved in a car accident less than three hours later.

Police reports stated that at about 8.15 pm St Margaret’s Police were alerted to an accident on the north-bound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway. Reports stated that Ramsawak, driving a blue Ford pick-up van, with Tirbanie and two women as passengers, crashed 300 feet away from the Macaulay Bridge.

Passing motorists contacted police and Emergency Health Services, and all four persons were taken to SFGH.

At the hospital, Ramsawak was treated for minor injuries and discharged. However, Tirbanie was admitted for broken limbs.
