Dookeran praises Twenty/20 side
The final was staged at the Stanford Cricket Ground, St John’s, Antigua but was won by Guyana.
After winning the semi-fnal on Friday, the embattled Dookeran fired off a letter to national team captain Daren Ganga. “I eagerly look forward to you leading the team to victory in the final and, in so doing, create history by capturing the first-ever triple crown of Caribbean cricket.”
Earlier this year, Trinidad and Tobago won the Carib Shield and Carib International Challenge trophies, during the regional First-Class season.
Dookeran hoped that a TT win would reignite “the national spirit created by the Soca Warriors achievements in the recent (FIFA) World Cup finals.”
The former Trade Minister and Governor of the Central Bank was impressed with TT’s emphatic win over Nevis in Friday’s semifinal, “particularly with the batting of Kieron Pollard and (Ganga).
“You (Ganga) were well supported by the team in the field and your captaincy continues to be admired both at home and in the region,” Dookeran added.
