This noise is too much

The excessively loud levels of the music resonated throughout the entire area, causing our homes to vibrate.

We live at Fondes Amandes, St Ann’s and I would have liked the powers that be to have been present in our vicinity, to experience the trauma and anger caused by the event.

There are families with young babies and elderly relatives living in the area and we have no doubt that the noise also adversely affects the residents of the St Ann’s Hospital, many of whom suffer from nervous conditions, which can be agitated by prolonged loud vibrations and lack of restful sleep.

For several years, Ms Rhona Ince (now deceased) and the residents of Fondes Amandes, St Ann’s, have been protesting against these noisy f?tes and expressed the fact that the citizens of this country are entitled to a peaceful night’s rest without disturbance.

We wish to make it clear that we are as patriotic as any other citizens and support our National Festival as passionately as they do, but time and time again the dangers of excessively loud levels of noise have been elaborated upon by all the relevant authorities.

We therefore consider the people involved in granting permission for these noisy f?tes in the Savannah to be very irresponsible and insensitive.

Excessive noise is a serious health hazard and we are now calling on the Ministry of Health to be involved in this decision-making. There is no way we can hope to achieve our 2020 Developed Nation Status with this kind of approach.
