$1M for Yardies

Joseph was responding to a question posed by San Juan/Barataria MP, Fuad Khan, who wanted to know whether British law enforcement personnel presently in the country assisting the police were from Scotland Yard, and what were the terms and conditions of their engagement.

Joseph said in response to the unprecedented upsurge in crime, Cabinet granted approval for the Scotland Yard detectives to be appointed to the anti-crime unit. He said on April 6, 27 officers from the Metropolitan Police, also known as Scotland Yard, were assigned to duty with the unit.

He said Government recruited the best skills from various police districts all over the United Kingdom.

He said the officers’ assignments would end after two years but the contracts could be renewed for another year.
