‘Buffy’ inquiry put off

Shortly before 10 am yesterday, special prosecutor Osbourne Charles SC and the officers involved in the matter were informed that the Chief Magistrate would not be sitting at the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court. Mc Nicolls reportedly sat at the Arima Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

As a result, Millard’s matters were transferred to the Tenth Court and adjourned by Magistrate Andrew Stroude.

It is alleged Millard, also called Mustapha, murdered Jilla Bowen on June 4, 2003. Bowen was fatally shot in the car park at MovieTowne, Invaders Bay.

He is also jointly charged with Jamaat Al Muslimeen leader Imam Yasin Abu Bakr and Brent “Big Brent” Miller with conspiring to murder two expelled members of the Jamaat — Salim Rasheed and Zaki Aubaidah.

That offence is alleged to have taken place on June 4, 2003, at Citrine Drive, Diamond Vale, Diego Martin. Millard was arrested in Guyana on May 3 and was deported to Trinidad on May 6.

Defence attorney Evans Welch represents Millard, who will reappear before Mc Nicolls on August 30.
