NY firm computers for Penal RC

Equipped with high-speed Internet, the gift came from Imagery Media.com, a New York-based company which designs online games for companies advertising on the Internet and television. Recently, the company expanded its operations in the field of education – designing games for online courses.

TT-born Juan DiHigo of Imagery Media.com migrated to the US as a child. DiHigo ventured into the world of computers and teamed up with American Justin Kennedy to develop the business of designing online games. The company is a million-dollar enterprise in New York and DiHigo is its marketing director.

“There’s always the urge to give back to one’s community,” DiHigo said, and how gratifying, he added, when the beneficiaries are those not so privileged. “Being a Trinidadian-American, I feel an obligation to share my success with the people of my native country. With a few computers, Internet access and a little patience, we hope to use the same medium to help educate some of Trinidad’s lost children,” he said.

In accepting the computers on the pupils’ behalf, school principal Sr Grace Ramlakhan, commented that “small” rural schools are often overlooked and neglected in terms of school resources. “It is very difficult for the students to access and use modern technology in their education,” she added.

Ramlakhan assured DiHigo that her pupils would benefit from Imagery Media.com’s many animated and interactive programmes. “Their learning will be enhanced by your programmes,” she said.

ImageMedia.com established itself when the company was hired to create an online game to promote a top New York radio station in 2003.

It currently produces online games and animations for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, Random House Publishing and FedEx.
