CWU slams TSTT man

Julien’s statement came yesterday at a press briefing at the CWU’s Hall on Henry Street, Port-of-Spain in response to TSTT’s release on August 21, 2006 which stated that talks had broken down between the union and the company.

Julien yesterday also stated that Messiah had no moral authority to address employees on issues’ concerning any negotiations as he had not attended any meeting with the union.

The union, according to Julien, is calling for the immediate removal of Messiah or he said the union will be forced to take action to ensure the protection of over 2000 employees.

Lyle Townsend, Secretary General of the CWU, said yesterday TSTT has indicated that permanent workers will be replaced. He added that the union is not entertaining the removal of 345 permanent workers and replacing them with contract workers.
