Shak Attack too much

Shak Attack never really gave Elite time to settle in, jumping to a 25-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second session was much of the same with the Elite youngsters struggling to score baskets to keep Shak Attack within reach.

At the half, Elite were still trailing by double-figures and the scoreboard read 38-26.

At the start of the second half, Elite came out with a different attitude.

They seemed to have more of a fighting spirit which was led by Vonell Applewhite.

He made some steals and netted some key baskets that lessened Elite’s deficit.

Shak Attack were outscored 24 to 20 points and had only a mere eight-point (58-50) lead heading into the final quarter.

But any thoughts of Elite making more of a comeback was extinquished by Kirt Christian, who took control of Shak Attack’s offence and pushed his team to victory.

He ended with a match-high 20 points.

Helping him with shooting guard Terrance Mayers and point guard Kenneth Roberts, who added 14 and 13 points respectively.

In the other match, National Flour Mills finally celebrated a victory, beating Trailblazers 85-59.

NFM’s scoring was done by Karim Mohammed (14), Albert Sprott (13) and Gamal Patrick (12).
