Tropical depression no threat to the Caribbean, says Met Office

NHC said the depression was travelling at a total speed of 30/40 knots per hour, along the southern Atlantic and as a result has created a tropical wave 1,000 miles east of the Southern Windward Islands.

NHC said such activity could cause heavy rainfall and thundershowers within the Caribbean region during the next two to three days.

Yesterday, officials at the TT Meteorological Services however said Trinidad and Tobago would not in anyway be affected by the depression, which happens to be travelling in an opposite direction.

Met officials said the island’s only worry lies in a tropical wave which was developing at 59 degrees Longtitude, east of Trinidad.

Met officials said Trinidad and Tobago could expect some substantial rainfall alongside heavy thunder showers and gusty winds within the next three to four days.
