Pathologist beaten at hospital mortuary

In a release yesterday, DOMA stated that “in some cases, scandalous incidents such as the death of five young men in one traffic accident, or the murder of four innocent men involved in a neighbourhood game of dominoes, have disappeared from our thoughts within a day or two of the tragedy.”

In the case of the five young men who died in one road traffic accident, DOMA noted that no explanation was given as to how a vehicle, which had lost control, could run head-on into the back of a truck. In relation to the murders, DOMA added, “we continue to be told that it was gang, or drug-related, or a revenge killing without any concern for the believable pleadings of family and neighbours who vouch for the character of those who have been killed.”

“References to vehicles losing control and murders which are gang-related have had the effect of relieving the authorities of accountability and of fooling us into believing that these deaths are somehow acceptable, or that these lives somehow had less value than our own,” the release stated.

DOMA said it viewed reports of a 15-year-old schoolboy being shot dead with “new and immediate concern.” The business group pointed out that this incident joins a tragic list of children killed, including an innocent young girl in a panyard. DOMA said its members feel they have been in a long-distance marathon on the issue of the breakdown of law and order.

The release noted that “the recent 555 programme of the Ministry of National Security was pleading with citizens to step-in and step-up in an effort to save the country.” We hope that every man and woman will understand how serious the situation is, and how urgent the need is for all citizens to respond in this time of our country’s needs,” added the organization.
