Trinis crowd Logos II

The vessel docked in Trinidad at about 7 am and opened its door at 11 am, one hour later than scheduled. Crew members said the delay was caused by last minute preparations.

The last time the Logos II visited Trinidad in 2005 it was promised that the next visit would be made with a new ship.

However, Project Manager for the Logos II Trinidad visit, Andrew Boon, told Newsday the new ship had been purchased but had not yet been commissioned.

Boon said they underestimated the time it would take to reformat the vessel, which was originally a car ferry, into a book ship.

The new vessel’s name, the Logos Hope, is currently docked in Croatia

Project Coordinator, Matildas Santana, said the Logos II has more than 5,000 book titles, an increase of 1,000 titles over the last two years. The Logos II will host youth conferences on August 26, September 1 and September 15 from 7-9 pm on all three nights.

The floating book exhibition has been in the Caribbean region for the past year and recently concluded visits to Grenada and Martinique.

The Logos II will be in Trinidad until September 22, opening times are Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday to Monday 2 pm to 10 pm.

The ship will then visit Tobago from September 27 to October 9.
