Road works are unsatisfactory

Yes Mr Minister, I am in total agreement that there is a common misconception that your ministry is responsible for all roads in the country, but you sir, must explain to the general public and particularly the motoring public, why? On the major roads for which you are responsible, such horrendous road repairs are allowed to continue unabated by your ministry. Do you sir, have in your cadre of technical officers, engineers and supervisors any trained in this discipline? I think not.

Let’s take a few examples:-

1) The CR Highway on the westbound lane in the vicinity of El Socorro Road on the southern side of the highway.

2) The Beetham Highway — southern side of lane.

3) The Solomon Hochoy Highway — Chaguanas to San Fernando southbound and northbound lanes.

4) The San Fernando Bypass both of lanes from Marabella to Cross Crossing.

5) The South Trunk Road from Cross Crossing to Oropouche, both lanes and the list can go on and on.

Do you Mr Minister consider this type of repair (road) acceptable by the motoring public, when the actual work is not done in accordance with the set principles of good road repairs?

I say not, when the surface is left rough and uneven and motorists have to move left or right.

Mr Minister, I can bring many such references to your attention, so stop making excuses and passing the buck.
