Western Division cops seize

Police reported that at about 11 pm, WDTF together with the Western Division Intelligence Unit, surveyed the Maqueripe area. Officers under the direction of Supt Roderick Roach, Cpl O’Neil, PC Fritz, PC Moore and other officers, acted on information and stopped a private motor vehicle. A 27-year-old, Petit Valley man, was held with two bags of compressed marijuana weighing 50 kgs. The officers also acted on another tip off in the same area along Maqueripe beach and seized 20 packets of cocaine that had been floating in the water.

The officers then drove down the Western Main Road, and observed a man acting suspiciously while driving his private vehicle. The cops gave chase and the man subsequently abandoned the vehicle. He was later held with three large bags of marijuana.

The two men were due to appear before a magistrate yesterday.
