Daily organiser for students
The book was written for the purpose of designing young Caribbean minds for academic success.
According to Pukerin, both himself and Robinson came up with one single question and the answer was immediate and precise.
The question: “What is the single, most important tool recommended for Caribbean students to excel in any subject?” The answer: “time management”. It initiated the birth of a success tool that is quickly becoming a constant companion of many Caribbean students.
The question was asked in today’s environment, where the demands for children’s time is at an optimum. “No other generation, in the life of our small country, has had to deal with so many distractions and demand for time. The Internet, cell phones, iPods, Playstations, XBoxes, CDS, DVDs, TV and maintaining a social life. Literally every minute of the day can be consumed by today’s technological gadgets,” Pukerin pointed out.
There is an urgent need to manage children’s time and academic futures. The answer to the question, initiated the creation of the Caribbean Student Daily Organizer.
The book is a success tool that every committed student can use to organise their day, week or month. A tool that maximises the available possibilities to improve performance. It provides a format for any student to set daily goals, list the actions that will accomplish the goals and write a journal of their activities.
Its simplicity is deceiving, the ‘Organiser’ is much more than a diary. This book has been designed specifically to inspire Caribbean students to excel. It is a success tool that responses directly to the need for time management to control the demands for children’s time while providing tips for passing the SEA and CXC exams.
It is clear that the collaborated effort between Robinson and Pukerin is indeed a timely intervention. The book is an essential tool for students who are facing many challenges in today’s fast-paced world.
Impressed by her foresight and understanding of the needs of today’s students, the first Vice President Caribbean Union of Teachers, Roustan Job, said, “Kathleen has seen a need and has taken steps to fill it. A teacher for more than 30 years, she has undertaken to use her experience and expertise to help equip students who desire to succeed but do not have the tools nor skills to do so.
Students who utilise this organiser will enhance their prospects of achieving academic success.”
The nation owes a debt of gratitude to Robinson for her creative endeavour and her foresight in helping to shape our nation’s academic and social future, Job added. The authors agree that the very first thing this book does is separatethe students who are truly committed from the ones who think it’s a good idea but think can it really work.
Maintaining this “diary” develops the habit of planning the students’ time in days, weeks and months. This is practised by most professionals and is a very good habit to learn early in life. The big benefit is that the student would realise the importance of knowing where they are going and having a tool to plan their trip.
Kathleen explains, the student will have the missing link between their desire and the “how to” get it done.
“They will learn how to plan and execute, how to manage their study schedule, extra-curricular and social activities. This book is not for people who think that it’s fun to let things happen, it is for leaders in the classroom and in life,” she concluded. The book is available on line at :-
