$45,000 bail for woman on coke charge

Candice Lambkin, of Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain, was denied bail by senior Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar when she appeared in court last week Friday to answer the charge.

Police prosecutor Cpl Sharon Corbett had objected to bail at that time in order to have a trace conducted to determine if Lambkin had any pending criminal cases before the court. Lambkin was not called on to plead to the charge as it had been laid indictably by Cpl Bobby Noyan.

Lambkin re-appeared before Magistrate Nanette Forde-John yesterday and Corbett recommended that the case be heard summarily. Lambkin entered a plea of not guilty.

Police allegedly found cocaine in a car in which Lambkin was a passenger on the Southern Main Road, Couva, last Thursday. Lambkin’s one-year-old daughter was also in the car.

Corbett told Forde-John the accused woman had no previous convictions or pending mattters.

The magistrate granted Lambkin bail and adjourned the case to September 14.
