Cable’s poor old equipment

On some occasions, no sooner transmission resumes it goes on the bum again for variable periods of time before it resumes normal transmission.

Wouldn’t it be far better and more truthful to advise customers that, “The poor old equipment has broken down again — We do not know what the problem is — but hope to have it fixed as soon as possible — sorry about that”.
