Drowned dad’s body recovered

Peruse drowned while attempting to rescue his daughter, Nicola King. Marcel Nanda, who tried to help the father and daughter, also died.

The tragedy unfolded at about 4.30 pm Thursday. King was standing on a concrete pillar on the beach opposite the Chaguaramas Convention Centre when a huge wave knocked her into the sea. Peruse rushed to her assistance but got into difficulties and drowned. Nanda, who tried to save the father and daughter, also got into difficulties and died on the way to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Officers from the Carenage Police Station are investigating the incident.
