TT earn 38 medals at CUT Games
The Trinidadians had a total bag of 38 medals while accumulating 401 points to finish runners-up to Jamaica in the Games which attracted 15 countries.
In track action the TT girls took their category with 250 points, while their male counterparts finished fourth with 151 points. The team competed in four age groups, with four boys and four girls in the under-nine, under-11 and under-13 age groups, while five boys and five girls participated in the under-15 age group.
Outstanding athletes were Shemiah Clarke who won the long jump, 100 metres and 200 metres and was second in the 400 metres in the girls under-11 category.
Kennisha Spann won the 200 metres, 400 metres and was second in the 100 metres events in the girls under-13 age-group and Akiel Edwards was victorious in the long and high jump in the boys under-13 category.
Michelle Lee Ahye sped to a 100 and 200 metres double in the girls 15 and under.
The team was managed by Steve Castellano and coached by Irma Riley, Shelly Slater, Denzil Walker, Derek Le Gendre and Albert King. Chaperones were Sherla Als James and Maria Permell.
