Words of national anthem

In 1986-1991 the National Alliance for Reconstruction the then government of the day, forced the poor working class to make a humongous sacrifice, by taking a ten percent pay cut. The country was going through an economic crisis and all hands should have been on deck, but the politicians did not take a cut. In fact, they continued to enjoy life.

Nevertheless at present Trinidad and Tobago is enjoying its best economy ever, oil is at a record high, our cup is running over. While the phrase in our national anthem, every creed and race find an equal place, or all citizens be at liberty to enjoy the wealth of the country, continues to be an oxymoron. It is time that these capitalist/politicians set the record straight and enshrine in our National Anthem, that every creed and race, really means every creed and race in a particular (class) only they alone will enjoy the wealth of the country. Although it is an atrocity, because the poor people are the ones who put these politicians in office every five years, with the hope that a better standard of living will come their way.

Nevertheless let our national anthem, stand tall, proud and correct.
