Local reggae takes the world by storm

He made the comment at Wednesday’s launch of the Reggae Road Block 2 CD, held at Zen Rooftop.

Davis thanked Digicel for being in partnership with CD producer, the Caribbean Media Group which is headed by Jean Michel Gibert and the Colligiate.

He said, “We look forward to a symbiotic relationship as we the local reggae ambassadors take the reggae world by storm. Tell the reggae world Trini reggae is coming.” The CD itself contains 16 tracks by the most popular local reggae artistes such as Prophet Benjamin, Million Voice, Isasha, King David, Mr. King, Jah Melody and Royal Daintes. There is also a bonus track “To The Ceiling” by Isaac Blackman, a song that is currently #1 on MTV Tempo for the second week.

Gibert told Newsday earlier that after the triumph of Reggae Road Block 1 and the successful international touring of our Trini Reggae Artistes Volume 2 of the CD was a must. He added that the music has made its mark on the international circuit, with major labels in the world now looking at our music and the Reggae Road Block 2.

He too was excited that Digicel was sponsoring the promotion of the CD via three free concerts that would take place in San Fernando tomorrow, at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago on November 25 and in Port-of-Spain on December 16.

Digicel’s Sponsorship and Promotions Manager, Maurita Laurent said that Digicel was delighted to be supporting the CD and concert series.

She said, “Supporting local talent and bringing music to our customers is one way in which we can give back to our customers.”
