No leads in Friday murders
The victims have been identified as Kern Walters, of Sangre Grande, Darion “Dog” Nichols, 25, of Fourth Street, Bon Air Gardens, Arouca and Mervyn Mc Caulin, alias “Fly,” 29, of Mango Drive, New City Village, Valencia.
The first incident occurred at about 6.20 pm, Walters was liming opposite a supermarket at Wallenvale Road, Guaico Village, Sangre Grande when three men went up to him and fired several shots. Police said Walters was shot twice in the head. Police believe that the killing was a reprisal shooting for the murder of Randal George, 35, of Wallenvale Road, Guaico Village, Sangre Grande. George was killed on March 18 near his home.
The second murder took place at about 6.30 pm. Nichols, who was freed of a murder charge about a year ago, was also shot in the head while walking along a track off Forde Street, Arouca.
The third was recorded when Mc Caulin, who police believed was connected with the March 23 2003 murder of gang leader Mark Guerra, was found murdered at his home by his common-law-wife at about 11.45 pm. Police said he was shot twice in the head.
