Cooper stars as Moruga capture Twenty/20 title

Tranquillity batting first was led by a blistering knock of 36 by national Under-17 player Kyle Borneo. Luke Samerson was also among the runs with 36.

Cooper with his accurate bowling ended with match figures of three for 36 as Tranquillity were set a challenging score of 139.

Moruga in their reply never looked in trouble with Cooper hammering the Tranquil bowlers with an array of strokes.

They had no answer for Cooper’s power-hitting as he dispatched any full or short-pitched delivery to the boundary.

He closed on 70 not out as Moruga Composite completed a resounding victory over their highly fancied opposition at 140 for six.

Cooper was named “Man-of-the-Match” for his fine all-round performance.

Also yesterday at the same venue Iere High School and Princes Town Senior Comprehensive clashed in the PowerGen Intercol Final.

Iere skipper Varune Samaroo won the toss and elected to bat and were 38 for one at the end of the eighth over up to press time last night.
