FITUN writes to Govt
FITUN president David Abdullah yesterday noted that the umbrella trade union organisation did not expect any radical departure from policies enacted by the previous administration saying while this was a new government with new faces, “it’s the same party under the same Prime Minister.”
He said what may change would be the “management style” of incoming ministers and noted that this would require correspondence to the individual ministers which would include new Minister of Labour Rennie Dumas and Agriculture Minister Senator Arnold Piggott.
Abdullah said an issue which needed to be urgently addressed was the agricultural policy which he said was being centered on the large farm model while the nation’s small farmers were being neglected and the price of food has continuing to rise almost on a daily basis.
“The needs of the existing small farmers are not being adequately addressed,” he said.
