Toppin stamps authority in schools U-20 400m

Toppin cruised to victory in the Boys Under-20 400m finals of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago sponsored Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.

He topped the eight-member field with a time of 47.48 while Kervin Morgan took the silver in 48.07. J Alleyne-Walcott was third in 48.59.

In the Girls Under-17 400m final, the St George’s District dominated the field. Chelsea Campbell of St George West took the gold in 59.07 while Marissa Gale of St George Central was second in 1:00.37. Samantha Selvon of St George Central was third passing the finish line in 1:00.53.

And St Stephen’s College student Anowele Korede placed first in the Boys Under-15 Shot Put with a powerful throw of 12.03m to claim the gold ahead of Nicholas Mc Kellar of Speyside Secondary who threw 11.80m. Richard Cuffie of Pt Fortin Secondary was third with 9.92m.

The multi-talented Sparkle Mc Knight claimed the first of her two gold medals in the Girls Under-20 100m hurdles as she burst past the finish line well ahead of her rivals in 14.93 seconds.

Nikesha Matthew was second in 18.20 while Evan Douglas took the bronze in 18.76.
