Jabloteh come from behind to down Caledonia AIA 3-1
With closest rivals W Connection on a bye, Jabloteh looked to take advantage but found themselves trailing Caledonia AIA at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar.
Caledonia took the lead in the 14th minute after the Jabloteh goalkeeper parried Guyanese forward Nigel Codrington’s shot into the path of his strike partner Kendall Velox who made no mistake.
But the 2007 Pro League MVP Marvin Oliver fired in a stunning equaliser past Caledonia AIA goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel from outside the box four minutes later.
And it would not be long before the defending champions found the go-ahead goal as a Lester Peltier cross was “dummied” by Oliver for Jabloteh new signing Jerol Forbes to bang home from close range in the 36th.
Oliver could have scored another in the second half but was guilty of kicking overbar from inside the penalty area.
Second half substitute Cornell Glen sealed the win, however, getting his first goal for Jabloteh for the season with his first touch of the ball. The former Ma Pau striker found the back of the net in the 80th getting on the end of a pin-point Trent Noel left-footed cross to slot past the stranded Caledonia goalie.
The Jabloteh coaching and medical staff suffered a scare as new signing Glen collapsed in a heap trying a flick. However the injury-riddled striker shook off the niggle as the final whistle blew to give Jabloteh their 13th win of the 2008 campaign.
