Christmas at the Movies
The St Augustine Chamber Orchestra (SACO 1999) is a non-profit organisation founded by Kenneth Listhrop, former music teacher at the International School of Port-of-Spain. In 2005 Listhrop also founded the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic (TTYP) as in addition to string instruments, wind, brass, and percussion instruments were added.
Students were incorporated from several music schools across Trinidad and Tobago including Bishop Anstey High School East and Trinity College East led by wind instructor Anthony Adams and brass instructor Lambert Phillip.
From Tobago came Glorious Sounds led by Pastor David Elder. TTYP is one of the few youth symphony orchestras in the Caribbean region.
This year SACO’s major sponsor GDF Suez has consented to partner with SACO-TTYP toward establishment of an ongoing orchestral programme at the Ezekiel Children’s Home in Preysal, Couva, and the Ferndean’s Place Children’s Home in Pt Fortin.
Tickets are priced at $150 and will be on sale daily from December 8, from 10 am to 6 pm at the Queen’s Hall Box Office and one hour before show-time on concert days.
