Cops return Hart’s computers

The computers were handed over last week to James Ross Hart, the son of Calder Hart.

Sources revealed that the computer hard drives contained no useful information to the police who are probing investigations into the award of several contracts awarded by Udecott under the stewardship of Calder Hart.

Police who seized the computers from Hart’s home on April 13 last, were hoping to find information stored in the hard drives of the computers which would have assisted them in ongoing investigations.

However, after perusing all the information stored in the computers, officers found nothing to assist them in their probe.

Even documents seized from Hart’s home did not prove to be of any use to investigators, and arrangements are being made to have those documents returned.

Investigators believe that the delay in executing a warrant at the De Lima Road, Cascade home of Hart may have jeopardised their chances of getting any useful information to assist them in their investigations.

On April 13, a team of investigators led by then Head of the Anti Corruption Investigations Bureau (ACIB) Snr Supt Terry Young executed the search warrant at Hart’s home, and took a statement from him in the presence of his attorneys.

In his statement, Hart indicated that he did not know the two directors of Sunway Caribbean Construction Limited who were awarded the $368 million contract for the Ministry of Legal Affairs Tower in Port-of-Spain.

Police are probing an allegation that the two directors of Sunway who were awarded the $368 million contract are the brother and brother-in-law of Sherrine Hart, the current wife of Calder Hart.
