Harvard blank Point Fortin in National Youth Football
Josiah Les Pierre got a double for Harvard, in the tenth and 70th minutes, while Chad Letren found the back of the net in the 26th. Jamille Boatswain pulled one back for Point Fortin in the 80th.
Club Sando remained top of Group “A” despite forfeiting their match against Joe Public (who were awarded a 3-0 win as a consequence).
In Group “B”, Mayaro Spurs moved to first place after whipping Cap Off Youths 2-0, with strikes from Russel Alfred (37th) and Emmanuel Campbell (79th). Queen’s Park prevailed by a 3-1 margin over WASA. Stephon Blake put WASA ahead in the 13th before the Parkites responded with strikes from Nickalaus Holder (27th), Jose Gonsales (44th) and Nicholas De Matas (70th).
Club Sando stayed atop the pile in Group “A” of the Under-16 Division after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Joe Public. Shaquille Davis put Joe Public in front after 26 minutes before Wasiym Stewart tied up the scores in the 67th, and, a minute later, Keron Brooks got the winner for Sando.
Another team earning a come-back 2-1 triumph was Harvard, in their clash against Point Fortin Civic Centre. Akeem Weston’s 20th minute goal for Point Fortin was cancelled out by a double from Kyle George, in the 25th and 67th.
Ironically, the two other results, in Group “B” of the Under-16 category, also ended in 2-1 scorelines.
Queen’s Park got the better of 1st FC Santa Rosa, courtesy items from Jared Flament (54th) and Trevin Latapy (71st), after Jordan Devenish gave Santa Rosa a 33rd minute lead.
And Moruga were reliant on early strikes from Keil Ribiero (first) and Anderson Toussaint (11th) as they edged Cap Off Youths, despite a 49th minute consolation from Romario Blackette.
In the Under-14 Division, 1st FC Santa Rosa remained ahead of the standings after a 3-2 win over Club Sando. Kyle Reyes netted an early double for Santa Rosa (tenth and 17th) before Aquille Rawlins pulled one back in the 26th.
Jillani Halls’ 45th minute own goal restored Santa Rosa’s two-goal lead, and they held on for the win, despite a 55th minute response from J’Deem Parris.
Shammah Felix’s 42nd minute item was enough to guarantee Harvard a 1-0 win over Cap Off Youths while Joe Public earned a 3-0 default victory over Point Fortin Civic Centre.
