Two stabbed to death

The victims were identified as 56-year-old Anthony Samuel, of Dadiur Street, Arima, and “PH” driver Abraham Augustine. Both were stabbed to death and their bodies left at the side of the roadway.

In the first incident, at about 12.05 am, Samuel, a supervisor at Carib Glass Works, was found lying at the side of the Balmain Main Road in Couva, close to Calcutta No 1, with several stab wounds about his body. By the time police responded to the scene, he was already dead. Homicide Bureau detectives arrived on the scene but were still trying to determine a motive for the killing. And in an unrelated incident a short time later, police were again tipped off to the presence of a bloodied body lying at the side of the roadway, this time, in Matura.

Police arrived on the Toco Main Road, close to the Textel station, where they found Augustine lying on the road and his body covered in blood. He had been stabbed several times about his body.

Investigators say he was known to be a “PH” driver and plied his sliver Hyundai Matrix along the Toco Main Road. Investigators believe Augustine might have been the victim of a robbery and was killed and relieved of his vehicle. Up to late yesterday, police had not recovered his vehicle.

Anyone who can assist in solving these crimes is asked to contact the nearest police station.
