The occasion was a “meet and greet” session organised by the chamber at Gaston Courts, Chaguanas on Monday evening. Among the MPs present were Caroni East MP Dr Tim Gopeesingh; Tabaquite MP Dr Suruj Rambachan; Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial and Cadiz. Both Caroni Central MP Dr Glen Ramadharsingh and Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh were expected to attend the function.

In his remarks, chamber president Billy Ali said this year’s poll had achieved several important milestones with the election of the nation’s first woman Prime Minister. He urged womenfolk to emulate Persad-Bissessar’s example saying she had “truly shattered the glass ceiling in local politics.”
