Fashion and jazz share a runway

This event, similar to BET's Rip The Runway, brings together fashion designers and jazz musicians simultaneously on one stage in an environment where people meet, greet, vibe and smile.

Among the designers on show will be Shurnel with the “Oragami” collection featuring accessories by “Koko Karibi Designs”. The Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design will show “CAFD Student Work”

Modelled after the best design schools in the world, The Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (CAFD) is the first school of its kind in the Caribbean. With the collaboration of professionals from Paris, London and New York, CAFD trains future designers and marketers in the art and business of fashion with an eye towards developing an emerging fashion industry in the West Indies.

Also poised to take his designs to the runway is San Fernando-based designer Marvin Warner, 37, who specialises in affordable female apparel and accessories, brings a unique look and exclusive touch to his work. More than two decades after he started creating fashionable pieces, he's more than ever conscious of the need to adopt an appropriate business model for his brand called Themudtone project, to not only generate new business, but also to create employment opportunities.

Advance tickets for the show cost $200, go on sale today at Stechers - Long Circular and Trincity Mall, and at Farida's Salon – West Mall. For more information visit www.jazzalliance.org.
