TT Under-17s complete double over Venezuela
Both teams are preparing for next month’s FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, here in Trinidad and Tobago, with the hosts in Group “A” while Venezuela is in Group “C”.
Kayla Taylor was the goalscorer for Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday afternoon, as she was given acres of space by the Venezuelan defence and hit home, after good work by striker Jo-Marie Lewis in the 72nd minute. According to a report on the Venezuelan newspaper El Tiempo, Venezuela created a number of goal-scoring opportunities, but as the game wore on, Trinidad and Tobago grew in confidence and got the second-half winner, from the slimly-built Taylor.
On Monday, Trinidad and Tobago won 2-1 with goals by Jasmine Sampson (66th) and Lewis (86th), while Marialba Zambrano gave the hosts a 38th minute lead. The Even Pellerud-coached Trinidad and Tobago outfit returned home yesterday afternoon.
