Retro look for Chanel resort

Models arrived in groups by boat, many barefoot and barely accessorised. As described by one fashion watcher, “the models traipsed down the street-cum-runway, wearing seventies-ish diaphanous caftans, long crocheted dresses, ruffle-lapelled silk jersey trouser suits, and patchwork denim skirts.”

Though the collection sometimes lacked cohesion, it was completely Chanel, as Lagerfeld always manages to accomplish. Looks evolved from Liberty-print caftans and sheer long dresses into sporty jersey separates in Easter-egg colour blocking. Light denim, low-cut halters and simple tailoring screamed 70’s, while there were also whispers of the late 60’s with boucl? A-line skirts with matching vests and sheer ascot blouses.

Seems like something out of a quintessential Riviera movie…just like the carefree starlets and jet-setters they were channeling.
