The Ramsinghs are back
The series begins tomorrow with an hour-long pilot to be aired on ieTV (Cable channel 1 and channel 13 on DirecTV).
There are 12 more half hour episodes in season one of the series. Season two consists of 13 episodes: a one hour pilot, 11 half hour episodes and an hour long finale.
Total Chaos promises the series will be a combination of “a great story mixed with extravagant humour”.
The cast is made up of 28 characters, ten playing major roles and 18 minor roles. There are new members to the original cast including Nigel Bhagwandeen, Claudius Ramdath, Anne Marie Dean and Natasha Mahadeo.
The show revolves around the lives of the Ramsinghs, a family living in the 1960s in a small, dilapidated “carat” house in a fishing village located in “deep south Trinidad”. Ramsingh and Joyce have two sons, Jankie and Rajesh. Jankie fishes like his father and is married to Meera with whom he has one daughter, Sunita.
Rajesh the younger son, is brilliant and attends Naparima College. His mother dreams of her son winning a scholarship to pursue studies to become a doctor. Rajesh is in love with his childhood sweetheart, Indira Maharaj who is a member of the richest family in the village. Indira attends Naparima Girls and is expected to pursue Law. Her mother, Davika is against the relationship because Rajesh is the son of a poor fisherman and Indira is her only child.
Joyce’s sister, Sita, is known in her village for her promiscuous ways and is often seen using a nearby canefield as a hotel. She develops a relationship with Boysie, the married owner of the village’s general store.
Another character, Ramjit is also a fisherman who drinks. He is married to Shanti and has a friend named Boodlal who sleeps with his wife, while Ramjit has a relationship with Boodlal’s sister. Other characters include the Scarras and the Mohammeds.
“As the series unfolds the Ramsinghs, the Maharajs, the Ramjits, the Scarras and the Mohammeds will each explore their own story in a most detailed way of love, betrayal, sacrifices, hardships and, most of all, humour that will grasp the emotions of its viewers to both laugh and cry in the same episode,” a release from Total Chaos Production stated.
