Green Expo launch tonight at Skinner Park

Over 100 booths and displays from companies, local government agencies, diplomatic missions, NGOs and CBOs and others will be on show.

This will be an historic event and sponsorship response has been tremendous. This includes the Ministry of Housing and the Environment, Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education (STTE), First Citizens Bank, National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB), National Carnival Commission, Petrotrin, School of Business and Computer Science (SBCS), MovieTowne, All Events Lighting and recycler, Piranha International Limited.

Chairman of the Green Expo Committee, Deputy Mayor, Dr Navi Muradali pointed out that the key goal is to raise public awareness on “going green” and to help motivate all stakeholders toward change and to stimulate greater sensitivity and positive attitudes to better protect our environment in a sustainable way. The Ministry of Education has shown its support by granting permission for schoolchildren to attend.

The Honourable Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar and officials of the Government have been invited to attend the four-day Green Expo.

According to the organisers, the Mayor of San Fernando and the City Corporation must be highly commended for bringing to fruition such an historical event. They anticipate that this Expo will act as a catalyst for other future green initiatives for the city of San Fernando, and beyond.

Her Worship The Mayor Alderman Marlene Coudray will officially open the Green Expo at 7 o’clock tonight at Skinner Park. The keynote speaker will be Minister of Housing and the Environment, Dr Roodal Moonilal. The opening ceremony is open to the public.

Sancity Green Expo promises to be an unforgettable experience and one you will not want to miss. It will run until Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm daily and will provide presentations by experts, demonstrations, lots of activities for children and entertainment for all.
