TT win at Davis Cup
Trinidad and Tobago can advance to the Americas Zone Group III category if they beat Panama today.
Williams trounced Brian Oldfield of the US Virgin Islands in a one-sided opening match. Williams proved to be the better player and eased to a 6-1 first set win. He took the second set 6-0 win to give Trinidad and Tobago a winning start at the Davis Cup.
Wilson then partnered with Williams and they crushed the US Virgin Islands duo of Nicholas Bass and Kristepher Elien, in the doubles match. Wilson and Williams dominated throughout the first set and won 6-1. The Tobagonian combination met some resistance from Bass and Elien in the second set, but the local duo eventually won 6-4.
Trinidad and Tobago’s 4-6, 6-3, 7-5
Last year, Trinidad and Tobago finished fourth in the Americas Zone Group IV.
