Karen’s $20M lawsuit adjourned

The lawsuit came up for hearing in the Port-of-Spain Civil Court yesterday, and has been adjourned to October 5 and 6.

It was previously listed before a Master of the Court.

Tesheira filed the lawsuit seeking more than $20 million in compensation for the “loss and damage” suffered upon the death of her late husband in 2004.

She claims negligence caused her husband’s death. The lawsuit names Gulf View Medical Centre, urologist, Dr Lester Goetz, and anesthesiologist, Dr Crisen Jendra Roopchand, as defendants.

The defendants have denied the allegations.

Russell Tesheira, Clico’s vice-president of sales and agencies administration, died on April 13, 2004, shortly after undergoing surgery.

Douglas Mendes SC and Nyree Alfonso are representing Tesheira while Kemraj Harrikissoon appears for Gulf View Medical Centre and Dr Roopchand, while Michael Hamel- Smith appears for Dr Goetz
